In addition to music, I studied creative writing in college, and soon I became interested in bringing them together. That has led in a few directions — a short story paired with music, a libretto for a ballet by Theo Chandler, and especially a dive into music journalism.

I'm now the managing editor of ClevelandClassical, have written for Early Music America and Zumic, and have been a fellow at the Rubin Institute for Music Criticism.

I also write program notes and liner notes — read my notes for clarinetist Kristen Mather de Andrade's album "As Bright As The Skies Are Blue" here. Feel free to reach out in the Contact section if you'd like to work together.
